POOSHAN CHAUDHURI
Future of Robotics,
Youth Advocate
Pooshan Chaudhuri moved to the United States from India with his family when he was 1. Both his parents being engineers, he was exposed to mathematics at a very young age and surprised his first-grade teacher with a graphical extrapolation that earned him a spot in the Gifted class. He has been an avid Mathlete ever since and have taken part and represented his school in various Math competitions.
While academics was an important part of growing up, Pooshan has always been a fitness enthusiast and is a second-degree black belt in TaeKwonDo. Years of learning and mastering this art of Self defense has instilled in Pooshan an excellent work ethic and understanding of the importance of resilience.
These traits have helped him immensely in High School when he has challenged himself with several college level courses particularly in Math and Physics. While in high school, Pooshan got his first taste of Robotics after he joined the school Robotics team. The team has since become an integral part of his being and during the Robotics Build season, he is either to be found with his computer designing the Robot using the Autodesk Fusion 360 or machining parts using the CNC machine during weekends. He is currently the CAD team lead and has not only been instrumental in designing a fantastic Robot for the 2023 challenge but also has done several tutorials for “rookies” so that the team retains its edge even after the current leaders leave for college.
Apart from academics in high school, Pooshan is a music enthusiast and is an important member of the advanced band. He was awarded the title of Sophomore of the Year in 2022 and has been the first chair in Tenor Saxophone since 8th grade. He also earned the honor of being the first chair for the District Band in 2022.
Looking ahead, Pooshan wants to combine his love for Robotics, mathematics and physics and aims to join an engineering school that will challenge him to think out of the box and solve problems that intrigue the world today, and pave the way for sustainable development.
