JEENAEV SHAH

Jeenaev Shah is a quantitative and empathic problem-solver and risk-taker with a global perspective, having been born in the US and residing in Singapore the majority of his life speaking English, Chinese, and Hindi. He is vehemently passionate about international relations, political science, economics, and sustainable development, exploring them in an interdisciplinary context and utilizing these disciplines to make the world a more equitable, sustainable, and prosperous place. 
 

When he was seven years old, Jeenaev created his own news channel, JNWN, on YouTube where he covered carbon taxes, China’s economic rise to power, climate change, inflation, artificial intelligence, and more. Through this, he explored various topics impacting the way the world operates and became intrinsically fascinated with understanding the different processes and systems that allow us to operate our society and particularly how we can improve them for the future to adapt to the pressing issues facing us. Since then, Jeenaev has been a United Nations Youth Delegate at the 2023 Sustainable Development Goal Summit, was selected for a national youth leaders fellowship where he got to meet with the Singapore Health Minister, and won an all-expenses paid trip to New York City as part of making it to the finals of a global essay-debate public policy competition.

 

In school, Jeenaev is pursuing the International Baccalaureate program with Higher Level subjects of Global Politics, Computer Science, & Economics and Standard Level subjects of English Literature, Mathematics, & Chinese. Outside of school, he’s worked at the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics at the Singapore Management University conducting research into the decision-making mechanisms, monetary policies, and organizational structures of various governments and central banks. He also co-founded the Future of Internationalism: a think tank focused on increasing political cooperation between nations, exploring governance and development issues, backed by the UN Foundation. In his free time, Jeenaev loves to read, hike, trek, build, and learn!

 

Jeenaev aims to leave a lasting, positive impact on the world by making people's lives and society as a whole better. He hopes to pursue higher education studies at a world-class university where he can contribute to their community and leverage the amazing resources offered to students in order to accomplish this.
